Isla Mouro Lighthouse

8 reviews of Isla Mouro Lighthouse

Mouro Lighthouse Island is located just...

Excellent

Mouro Lighthouse Island is located just before the Bay of Santander. It was put into service on February 15, 1860 and stands 38.7 meters above sea level and its tower is 18.39 meters above ground. This lighthouse is one of the 9 lighthouses in Cantabria: 1) Cabo Mayor Lighthouse, 2) Santander Lighthouse, 3) Harbor Lighthouse at San Vicente de la Barquera, 4) La Cerda Santander Lighthouse, 5) Fisherman Lighthouse in Dueso, 6) Castro Urdiales Lighthouse, 7) Punta del Pescador in Santoña Lighthouse because the lighthouse in Punta del Caballo in Santoña is currently out of service 8)Cabo de Ajo Lighthouse and finally the Mouro Island Lighthouse.

The only downside to the location, is that there have been several tragedies by storms, including a lighthouse keeper, or on another occasion when the light itself was off several days.

Lighthouse Mouro Island

Faro De La Isla De Mouro

Watching the bay from the top of a rugged and windswept island.

Excelente para los aficionados de la fotografía

Excellent
The Faro de la Isla de Mouro is one of the most picturesque elements of the Santander coast. When viewed from the Magdalena Peninsula, the lighthouse next to the coastal cliffs and the roar of the waves resemble the dictionary definition of the Atlantic (Well, in this case of the sea of Cantabria, I suppose). Given its designation as a nature reserve, the island is very popular among scuba-diving, snorkeling and kayakers who seek to enjoy the rich biodiversity of its seabed. However, I would also say that it is an excellent place for photography enthusiasts: you will have fun experimenting with capturing the lighthouse and the coastal cliffs from various angles, either from Santander or Somo.

Natural reserve

Reserva Natural

The peninsula of Magdalena is irregular, with ridges and cliffs, and a perfectly marked to cross it and admire these unique landscapes ride. I was lucky that gives haca bad weather, a real spectacle to watch the waves from the lighthouse of the sow. Mouro Island in northeast direction, can be seen from there, with its lighthouse erected after the onslaught of hundreds of waves in his long life. It is one of the most breathtaking places on the coast of Santander, a privilege to have him so close to town.

It is true that in winter was at this point of the Spanish geography, scratched and fro more than in Winterfell, but it is also true that there had not a soul in the gazebo located near the Palacio de la Magdalena and I enjoy time of tremendous peace. The views of the bay and this lonely lighthouse and the sea crashing so hard they felt made a full rest of the big city
