hermitage with spectacular views
The Abellera hermitage is a 1570 building embedded in a cave. It's located in Prades in the Baix Camp region, Tarragona. If you arrive by car, go from the Prades Vilaplana road. It's well sign-posted, so it will be hard to miss. The chapel is surrounded by a stone railing and the enclosure is accessible through a door. Legend has it that a hermit lived here, spying on bees through a mirror, hence the name. From the chapel, there is a spectacular view of the Brugent river valley. If you have the opportunity to visit the area, do not fail to buy a jar of the local honey.
