The Garbatella Neighborhood

Lungo le sue strade sono stati girati "Caro Diario" di Nanni Moretti e la serie televisiva "I Cesaroni" e percorrendo le strade del quartiere Garbatella si capisce in un attimo perché questo luogo sia una delle location più amate dai registi. Il quartiere è molto pittoresco e fra le sue case e le sue strade si respira un'atmosfera particolare, lontana anni luce dalla Roma del centro storico turistico. Garbatella era nata come città-giardino per le classi lavoratrici, ma durante il fascismo divenne il quartiere degi abitanti che avevano perso la casa in centro a causa dello sventramento voluto dal duce. Durante gli anni '30 furono così costruite villette a due piani e grandi condomini (denominati "alberghi suburbani"), uno diverso dall'altro (non hanno niente a che fare con le case popolari) con ampi cortili, progettati da Innocenzo Sabbatini, l'architetto più famoso della "scuola romana". Sulle pareti esterne delle case si possono ancora intravedere i numeri con i lotti. Da quartiere popolare, Garbatella oggi è diventata una delle zone residenziali più interessanti e ricercate di Roma, oltre ad essersi riempito di ristoranti e locali frequentati dai romani e molto meno dai turisti, che abbastanza difficilmente si avventurano qui. Invece il quartiere è davvero suggestivo: una visita qui, magari per cena, non lascerà delusi e permetterà di gustare una delle tante anime della capitale.

Garbatella was born as a garden city for the working classes, but during fascism became the district Degi villagers who had lost their homes in the center due to the gutting desired by the leader. During the 30's were well built two-storey villas and large condominiums (called "suburban hotels"), one different from the other (they have nothing to do with the housing) with large courtyards, designed by Innocenzo Sabbatini, the 'most famous architect of the "Roman school". The exterior walls of the houses you can still catch a glimpse of the numbers with the lots. From neighborhood, Garbatella today has become one of the most interesting and sought after residential areas of Rome, as well as having filled with restaurants and bars frequented by the Romans, and much less by tourists, which is quite difficult to venture here. Instead, the neighborhood is really impressive: a visit here, maybe for dinner, will not leave disappointed and allow you to enjoy one of the many souls of the capital.
