Tour the house of David and Mary Gamble of the Proctor & Gamble Company
The Gamble House is an amazing work of architecture that used to be the home of David and Mary Gamble of the Proctor & Gamble Company. The house is over 100 years old and is available to the public via one-hour guided tours that cost up to $15 per person. It’s really an intriguing place to spend some time in. The docents are very knowledgeable and point out little details like themes in certain rooms and the type of wood – as that is largely what the house is constructed with – is used in various walls, doors, and floors, among other places in the house. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for some good walking and standing while touring The Gamble House.
It’s huge but it’s cool to see where half of Proctor & Gamble lived. Also be sure to reserve tickets in advance, as tours fill up fast. Free parking is available in the private street right in front of the house. No interior photography is allowed, but the outside is photogenic so be sure to bring a camera!
