The Gage Hotel

The Gage Hotel is located in tiny Marathon, Texas, with a population of under 500 residents and the motto is Marathon - Where there's nothing to do. The hotel was originally built in the 1920's and other properties were added adjacent to the original. I didn't get the chance to stay at the property but was allowed to take a tour of the property. If I hadn't already had room reservations in another community, I would have selected the Gage. Just walking through the hotel and the adobe rooms, decorated like a John Wayne western, I felt a since of calm and the simple life. The rooms don't have televisions but instead offer wide porches to sit outside and enjoy the quiet and the stars.
