The Danube River

The River Danube has been the subject of poems, songs, books, and other works. It has always been a placid river, carrying not only water but also art, music, and of course wealth. Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia have used this giant waterway to transport goods, passengers, and thoughts. I always get the impression that the river slows down when passing through the cities, as if stopping to admire the view. It happens in Vienna, Budapest, and of course, in Bratislava. The views of the cities are, of course, always so much more beautiful with the river in the foreground.
