The Conch Shack

In the culinary world, the word "Caribbean" means conch, a succulent and tasty clam-like creature found throughout the entire Caribbean. It can be prepared in salads, in soups and especially in fritters. To get an idea of the shellfish's popularity, Key West once called itself the Conch Republic and the island natives still refer to themselves as "conch". So, how could I not visit a place that prides itself on selling the best conch fritters in the world: the Conch Shack. It's a Key West institution and when I arrived at noon there was already a crowd devouring their famous conch salads and conch fritters.
