Florentine Painters from Siena
The Piazza del Duomo houses a simple university, several old palaces, and seven towers. The base is a Romanesque university that has been added outside. Over the centuries it has collected abundant works of Florentine and Sienese painters. Highlighted in the nave on the right hand side are frescoes that depict the life of Christ, the XIV, painted by Barna da Siena, who was an artist who died after falling from scaffolding on which he worked. That is one of the best works of Italian Gothic painting. The chapel of Santa Fina, a local saint who lived in the XIII century, was done by the work of Giuliano de Maiano and there are frescoes by Domenico Ghirlandaio.
This place also overlooks the square, in the lower zone of the same name, the palace of the Podesta Vechio, XII century, conditioned for theater in the eighteenth Rognosa with its tower 51 meter high tower. An arch at the corner of the university lets you access the Piazza dei Pecori, with a loggia XIV. Here there's the Museum of Sacred Etruscan art. The first is a work by Tuscan medieval artists and the second remains from the pre-Roman world.
