The Chariot of Patan

In late April a major festival takes place in Patan lasting several days. A tree is mounted on a large wooden wagon and everybody comes out to pull the strings that move it. They travel a certain distance each day passing the rope above the rooftops that line the street the procession passes through. If the wagon tips, it announces misfortunes according to tradition.
