A nice war memorial
The Cenotaph was built by Edwin Lutyens at the end of the First World War. Today it is used to represent all the battles that have been fought by the Commonwealth since 1918. The monument consists of a simple crown carved on two of its sides where the words "The Glorious Dead" has been inscribed. There is also the flag of the United Kingdom, and that of the Royal Navy. Each year, a parade of remembrance is held on the nearest Sunday to November 11. The Queen and Prime Minister are present, as well as veterans from the Armed Forces.
