The Beigel Shop

This is one of the stores that sells bagels (also known as Beigels or Beugels depending on the origin of the store) in Brick Lane. The stores are open 24 hours and are frequented by a variety of people at any time of day. Bagels, if you don't know, are soft round donut shaped rolls, their origin is from Central Europe and more specifically these stores are Jewish. These bakeries are the antithesis of luxury and no matter what time you arrive they are full of customers queuing patiently. Why? For one, the bagels are very good (an alternative snack to fast food), secondly they are very cheap and finally you can buy a bagel with salmon cream cheese etc.
