One of Madrid's best rooftop bars
The Balcony is the rooftop bar of the Innside Madrid Suecia hotel and, in my humble opinion at least, one of the best rooftop bars in downtown Madrid for a couple of reasons. First, it’s free and usually not very crowded. See, most tourists head to the spectacular rooftop of the Circulo de Bellas Artes (which happens to be right around the corner) as it does offer what are perhaps the best views of downtown Madrid. However, it’s almost always crowded and there’s even a 3 euro cover charge to get in! The Balcony, on the other hand, is literally one minute away, it’s free, and there’s almost always space to sit down and enjoy the views in peace. In fact, you can actually see in the Balcony from the rooftop of the Circulo de Bellas Artes!
The truth is that the views from the Balcony are not quite as spectacular as those of the Circulo de Bellas Artes, but they come close. You have a lovely view of the Palacio de Cibeles as well as the Paseo de Prado as it heads down towards Atocha Station. Really, the only building which isn’t in view is the famous Metropolis Building at the beginning of Gran Via.
The Balcony is divided into two floors with the bottom floor consisting of tables, a bar, a DJ booth, and a small pool where you can dip your feet on warm summer nights (a big plus in the Balcony’s favor). Then, there’s a small upstairs area featuring Ibiza-style white sofas and unparalleled views of the surrounding neighborhood. The drinks are somewhat pricier than average (it is a rooftop bar, after all) but the prices don’t come close to those of other rooftop bars in Madrid. Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a good alternative to the Circulo de Bellas Artes.
