The Ashmolean Museum (Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology) is located on Beaumont Street (Oxford, England), and is the first university museum. Its first building was built between 1678 and 1683 to house Elias Ashmole's collection, or cabinet of curiosities. He donated it to the University of Oxford in 1677.
