Terminal 1 JFK Airport

C'est quand même avec un peu de tristesse que nous nous sommes rendus à l'aéroport international John Fitzgerald Kennedy, et oui, c'était la fin d'une aventure américaine ! Cet aéroport est immense, mais en même temps, c'est un des plus importants du pays, donc il fallait s'y attendre. Tout est propre et bien organisé. On a procédé à l'enregistrement très rapidement, car nous avions fait notre check-in en ligne, donc il ne fallait qu'enregistrer les bagages (chose très pratique à faire, ça évite la queue). Nous avons ensuite pris un petit-déjeuner au Starbucks Coffee, accompagnés de donuts que nous avions achetés au Dunkin' Donuts de Chinatown, près du Manhattan Bridge. Les zones d'attente avant l'embarquement sont bien confortables, et disposent de nombreuses télévisions et prises de courant, histoire de pouvoir s'informer de ce qui s'est passé dans le monde (on a tendance à être déconnecté pendant les voyages, il faut bien l'admettre !). Bref, tout était très bien :)

It's still a little sad that we went to the John Fitzgerald Kennedy International Airport, and yes, it was the end of an American adventure! This airport is huge, but at the same time is one of the largest in the country, so it was to be expected. Everything is clean and well organized. We proceeded to check very quickly because we did our check-in line, so you did that recording luggage (very handy thing to do, it prevents the tail). We then took a breakfast at Starbucks Coffee, along with donuts that we had bought at Dunkin 'Donuts in Chinatown, near the Manhattan Bridge. The waiting area before boarding are comfortable, with many TVs and outlets, just to be able to learn from what happened in the world (they tend to be disconnected during travel, must admit!). In short, everything was fine :)

L'aeroporto internazionale John F. Kennedy si trova a Long Island, a 19 km dal centro di New York. Precedentemente noto come Idlewild Airport e poi come New York International Airport, prese il nome del famoso presidente americano nel 1963, ad un solo mese di distanza dal suo assassinato. Lo scalo ha 8 terminal, collegati da un anello su cui circola un treno chiamato AirTrain. Una volta scesi dall'aereo, dunque, per arrivare al centro tramite i mezzi pubblici occorre cercare l'AirTrain (operativo 24 ore al giorno tutti i giorni) e dirigersi verso la fermata collegata con la metropolitana (subway o MTA) o con gli autobus. L'AirTrain è gratuito fintanto che si circola al suo interno, ma in realtà si paga dopo quando si accede alla metro (5 dollari + il biglietto della corsa). Le fermate di metro collegate sono Jamaica (linee E, J e Z) e Howard Beach (linea A). A Jamaica Station si può prendere anche il LIRR (Long Island Rail Road).

The international airport John F. Kennedy is located in Long Island, 19 km from the center of New York. Situé à environ 40 minutes de Manhattan (soit environ 50 $ de taxi !), l'aéroport John Fitzgerald Kennedy est le plus grand de New York et l'un des plus grand du monde. Nous l'avons découvert le 11 septembre à 21h, date historique qui a transformé les lieux en désert, hormis les passagers de notre vol. Fait impressionnant pour un aéroport d'une telle envergure !

Es uno de los mas grandes que he visitado. Lo que peor he llevado es cuando vas a coger un vuelo de salida, todos lo controles que tienes que pasar. hay que ir con mucha paciencia y con tiempo. Luego dependiendo de la terminal que salgas hay más restaurantes y tiendas para hacer que la espera de las horas sea más amena. A nosotros nos gusta andar y visitar el aeropuerto mientras esperamos. Cuando llegas al aeropuerto después de un viaje largo o corto hay que hacer cola para todo... Presente el ESTA. Control de pasaportes... Eso si en cuánto sales es otro mundo.
