Historic Monument
The Tashkent Metro, or Toshkent Metropoliteni in Uzbek, or Ташкентский метрополитен in Russian, is a monument in itself, having been declared a historic monument because it's also a station museum. The only downfall is that photographs are completely prohibited and the staff is very strict about this fact. It's the only subway system in operation in Central Asia, although it was the seventh subway system built during the government of the former USSR. Dating from 1977 when it opened, it's considered one of the best means of transport in the city for its speed, cleanliness and safety. The Tashkent metro has 3 lines.
