The church that challenges the people
With views of the Gironde estuary, Talmont is one of the most lovely in France. its church of Ste-Radegone is proud defiance of the cliff. A 16 km southeast of Royan, this village is famous for the Roman enclave Fâ. After surrounding the walls and through the streets full of flowers, you can see the Romanesque church of Ste-Radegone. It seems to be falling, threatening to corrode the foundations. The temple is close to a moving marine cemetery from which you can enjoy a wide view of the estuary and the white cliffs. A 1975 aerial photo confirmed the existence of the Gallo-Roman port city at Novioregum Fâ.
