I was a summer intern here and got the chance to tour the archives. You can see birth and death certificates and civil suits, perfectly preserved & legible, from back when the town was still called New Amsterdam.

Questo stupendo edificio in stile Beaux Arts si trova nella zona di Lower Manhattan vicina al Ponte di Brooklyn. Aperto dal 1907, ospita gli archivi municipali nella Hall of Records, oltre alle corti che si occupano di successioni ed altri atti civili. Fu progettato da John Thomas. Si trova proprio a fianco del [poi=93261]Manhattan Municipal Building[/poi].

This beautiful historic Beaux Arts is located in the Lower Manhattan near the Brooklyn Bridge. Open since 1907, houses the municipal archives in the Hall of Records, in addition to the courts that deal with inheritance and other civil acts. It was designed by John Thomas. It is located right next to the Manhattan Municipal Building.
