Complicated to leave the hotel
It's complicated to leave the hotel here. After 15 days we have learned basic things like going by bus for a few dollars and buying souvenirs. In higüey, about 300m from the Basilica there is a supermarket called Iberia, which is similar to Carrefour. There you can buy faceless dolls for about 30 pesos, magnets, small mamajuana, and shampoo for your hair, cookies among other things. They also have a pharmacy although there are also many other places. I hope you find it useful.
