Canadian Improv
Inspired by the aesthetics of hockey, the improv comedy competitions are typical in Quebec. Every Sunday at 8pm, Le Medley Simple Malt holds a competition between two teams of comedians, most of whom are very talented. Upon arriving at the bar, look for the red upholstered stairs or inquire for the "Cravates" improvs. On the top floor there is a room, a sort of cafe-theatre where the shows take place. The referee gives a theme and during that time they must improvise, then each team is judged by the audience after their performance and will score points in the competition. Apparently many great comedians of the country began their acting career there and it's no wonder.
