San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum

2 reviews of San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum

The lungs of the city

Golden Gate Park, the lungs of the city of San Francisco, is comparable to Central Park and is home to a large white Victorian greenhouse opened in 1879 and which currently houses a tropical jungle. You can admire some 1,700 tropical plant species, each one more astonishing than the other. The orchids are beautiful and there are carnivorous plants too! When I was visiting, one of the greenhouse had butterflies but it seems that it might have been a temporary exhibition.
