La Straka Academy (Strakova Akademie) venne costruita tra il 1891 e il 1896. Inizialmente usata come ostello studentesco, ricevette il nome dal consigliere Earl Petr Straka, di cui rimase un grande lascito per fondare un'accademia per i figli di famiglie nobili che non potevano permettersi studi prestigiosi. L'edificio occupa oltre 4mila metri quadri ed è dotato di un enorme giardino. Durante la prima Guerra Mondiale venne utilizzato dalla Croce Rossa e funzionò come ospedale fino al 1918, dopodiché venne destinato ad uffici ministeriali. Dopo la II Guerra ospitò l'ufficio del Primo Ministro. È diventato infine sede del Governo Ceco nel 1993.
The Straka Academy (Akademie Strakova) was built between 1891 and 1896. Initially used as a student hostel, received its name from the Earl advisor Petr Straka, of which he remained a great legacy to found an academy for the sons of noble families who could not afford prestigious studies. The building occupies more than 4 thousand square meters and is equipped with a huge garden. During the First World War it was used by the Red Cross and worked as a hospital until 1918, after which he was sent to ministerial offices. After the Second World War it housed the office of the Prime Minister. It finally became the seat of the Czech government in 1993.
