Excellent
The one I'm going to talk at the foot of Krafla, not to be confused with the Viti crater at Askja. It is a small crater filled with beautiful blue water. This "crater of hell," as it is called in our language is very beautiful and the lake contrasts with the anthracite and orange rock around. One can easily access with parking 50m away from the gaping hole. But it's great to walk around and be on the highest wall at the foot of Krafla. We discover another small blue and green lake. And firn remains suspended above the crater lake. It is beautiful and we could stay there very long to enjoy the view of the mountains Leirhnjúkur and smoking. I highly recommend supplementing with the rise of the Krafla which should provide a better view (the shower taken during the hike to namajfall too cold for us to undertake) or walk in Leirhnjúkur is extraordinary because around the crater Viti only takes a few minutes and requires a bit of road anyway.

Large crater in the area of Krafla

This impressive crater is located in the area of Krafla, in the region of Myvatn. We had the good fortune to visit on a nice sunny day, so the colors were really vivid and bright! You must follow the marked trails and deal with a pair of boots with sole fits! also, along the way there are several signals to provide special care during rain, since the path of land can become extremely slippery. The path is a ring, and you get on top of the crater reached the edge you notice a clear and bright blue pool of water that has been created inside the crater! The path continues between steaming vents, bubbling pools and desert landscapes! It really has the feeling of alienation, of not being on Earth, but on another planet! Do not miss!
