Carlos Olmo
Venezuelan stone chapel
San Rafael de Mucuchíes is 3142 m and 30 km from Mérida, and is the highest town in Venezuela. The stone chapel was made entirely by hand, by Juan Felix Sanchez, born here in 1900. An incredible artist, his birthplace is now the Museum of the Andes, and is home to much of his work. The Chapel of Our Lady of Coromoto, as it is called, was built by Sanchez in the 80s, and is a great example that faith can move mountains.
