Stumbling Stones
The Stolpersteine ("stumbling stones") are a group of monuments in honor of the Jews ve were deported and murdered by the Nazis during WWII. The Stolpersteine are a sort of brass cobblestones designed by German artist Gunter Demnig and set in the pavement in front of the homes where the victims lived. There are actually over 20,000 of these installed throughout Europe. When you stumble across one, it's a good opportunity to take a few minutes and reflect on the events of the Second World War.
