Statua di San Carlo da Sezze

In una piazzetta intima vicino ala chiesa di San Pietro, pochi metri di distanza da piazza De Magistris, la città di Sezze ha dedicato una statua al suo concittadino più illustre, San Carlo da Sezze. La figura in bronzo è opera dello scultore setino Renato Berardi ed è stata collocata qui, nel Giardino Romolo Velletri, nel 2002 (come ricorda un'apposita targa). Il santo, come si sa, fu colpito al cuore da un dardo proveniente da un'Ostia durante la messa e per questo è invocato per un aiuto da chi ha problemi cardiaci. Il monumento, che mostra San Carlo mentre dà conforto a una persona sofferente, ha in un muro nei pressi la piantina in marmo della chiesa dei SS Sebastiano e Rocco, che si trovava qui e che fu centrata in pieno da un bombardamento alleato nel 1944.

In an intimate square near Wing of St. Peter's Church, a few meters away from Piazza De Magistris, the city of Sezze has dedicated a statue to its most famous citizen, St. Charles of Sezze. The figure in bronze by the sculptor setino Renato Berardi and was placed here in the Garden Romulus Velletri, in 2002 (as noted by a special plaque). The saint, as you know, was shot through the heart by a dart from a Host during mass and therefore called for help from those who have heart problems. The monument, which shows San Carlo while d solace to a suffering person, has in a wall near the marble plan of the St. Sebastian church and Rocco, which was located here and was centered in full by Allied bombing in 1944.
