La universidad es el centro neurálgico de la población californiana de Palo Alto, lugar donde han salido alguna de las más prestigiosas empresas de alta tecnología tan conocidas, como Google, entre otras muchas. El campus, de estilo colonial, esta compuesto por varios edificios donde destaca la torre del campanario y El Ovalo, una zona de jardines en el interior del recinto universitario. Además de los edificios con los distintos departamentos que forman la universidad, sin duda que el más visitado es el que alberga el primer servidor que empezó Google, un pequeño ordenador con piezas de lego. Ya fuera del campus, se encuentra el garaje donde se inicio la primera empresa de Silicon Valley, y donde empezó la empresa Hewlett-Packard.
