Semifinals of the Champions League, Chelsea-Bara
On Wednesday I went to see the semifinals of the champions game. I was especially excited to see a game at Stanford Bridge. I am a supporter of Barcelona so I couldn't turn down the chance to go. Chelsea versus Barcelona should have been a great game but we unfortunately had bad luck. Despite this, though, the experience was more than recommendable. Chelsea fans are so polite and athletic! (Note that is a more posh neighborhood in London). The songs are in favor of their team but aren't insulting, they're always greeting you and smiling during the match, taking photos for you, etc. You can enter the stadium and mix with everyone without any problem and leave the same way. Overall, there is a good vibe - so much that at the end of the match, everyone shakes hands. A little boy came up to me and gave me a Chelsea flag too! I thought it was lovely! The staff of the field are additionally lovely. They smile a lot, accompany you to your seat, take pictures if you ask, and are generally just very kind. They even put up posters in Catalan for the occasion - one for "senyores" for the ladies' room and "homes" for the men's room. The public announcer even thanked all of the Barcelona fans (in Catalan!). The stadium is very small so you're seated very close to the grass and to the players. It feels like you are right behind the players' benches.
