A small village
Staindrop is a small village located in County Durham a few kilometers from Raby Castle. Its church and cemetery are, along with the castle, some of the most interesting historical sites in the area. The whole town seems frozen in time; there are no apartment buildings, and all the houses are the traditional type you'd expect from this part of England, with huge green spaces every few meters.
It's an expensive, posh area, and in the heart of the village we saw a sign telling us that it was founded in the fourteenth century. This must be a mistake, or perhaps is referring to the time when the town was declared a Royal Burgh.
