France's largest stadium
The Stade de France is France's largest stadium with a capacity of 80,000 spectators. It was opened in 1998 by Jacques Chirac, in a friendly match between France and Spain. It was built to host the Football World Cup in 1998. Since then it has served for various events, from concerts and sporting events to huge plays and events like the "beach at the stadium" or "dreams of snow". In France when talking about the stadium, don't think about football or rugby directly, rather it is the great hall where you enjoy events of any kind. Rugby and football fans think of great moments that took place in the stadium, and also with the devotees of the concerts and festivals.
Among the most dramatic recent events we can cite the concert of 'The Police', U2, Ben-Hur play matches and the Champions League in 2006. The Stadium is located north of Paris, just outside Paris "intramural", in the district called Saint Denis. It's best to go by metro.
