St. Stephen's Church

In Italian, Chiesa di Santo Stefano, is located at the northern end of the Campo Santo Stefano San Marco neighborhood, not far from the Accademia Bridge. Founded in the thirteenth century, rebuilt in the fourteenth and modified in the early fifteenth century, when the additions of a Gothic doorway and a roof-shaped keel were made. Unique in the city, the apse of the church is also a bridge beneath which runs a navigable river. Topped with a tall steeple, Romanesque floor around an octagonal drum, characterized by a marked inclination.
