St. Peter's Church
The church of St Peter was founded in Saxon times, a Golden Age of Northumberland, in 674 AD, so one of the oldest churches built of stone in the UK. In a wonderful condition, this lovely church is located in one of the greenest places in Sunderland, in its own walled compound near the city center, the National Glass Centre, the University and the football stadium (local pride and you better not mention the subject). Inside a kindly old gentleman usually explains so we can understand its long history of Christianity. Both nice and interesting
