One of the most important churches in Scotland
One of the most representative and important churches in Scotland, which after passing through many wars has come in a pretty good state, respecting as far as possible the original structures . No one knows when it was founded, but there are references to 1138, during the reign of David I. It was consecrated as a center of Catholic and Christian worship in the year 1242, which is referred to as the year of foundation of the parish. It was used as a store of arms by the English King Edward I that suffered strong troops looting Scottish King Robert I (War of Independence) ... and further looting (Cromwell) and many fires, which have called for continuous repairs and restorations of the original elements.
Currently in the hands of the Church of Scotland, this church is named after the town's patron, San Miguel, is open to the public (free entry) and once inside it is really a breathe of that air of a cathedral church ... not surprising to be the largest religious congregation (in number) in Scotland. The building is wonderful, to my knowledge, have applied a modernura to the main tower, as a shot or needle, not stick to anything, but that detail does not detract from the excellence of the set itself. After the palace, the church of San Miguel is one of the most important to see on our visit to the town of Linlithgow.
