St Mary the Virgin
The University Church of St Mary the Virgin is the largest parish church in Oxford. It is also the epicenter of the growth of the University of Oxford. It is located in the northern part of High Street, close to the beautiful Radcliffe Square, and surrounded by Brasenose College and All Souls College and the Radcliffe Camera Library. It has one of the most beautiful towers in England It is a very fine building, with a style very similar to the Bodleian Library, located on the other side of Radcliffe Square. The portal is Baroque and the tower dates from the thirteenth century. At the beginning of the creation of the university, the church was the first place of education, and in the thirteenth century, was home from college, with two side buildings added to this.
