St. John the Baptist Church
This particular St. John the Baptist Church is in the upper area of the town, in the Plaza de San Juan. The church was built in 1608 upon the ruins of the old chapel of San Juan del Farrobo, although at that time the only preserved part of it was a part of the back. The church's current appearance is the result of the reconstruction that happened in 1728. The church's facade is Renaissance, and it has a single bell tower on the left side of the door, topped by a pyramidal dome. Inside, the church has a single nave and it's done in Latin cross plan with the high choir (where there are two organs) and two side chapels.
I found the inside of the church to be very beautiful. There were plenty of altarpieces, imagery, paintings and religious works of art. The altar really stands out because there's a 18th century neoclassical tabernacle that's attributed to José de Bethencourt and Castro. On it there's a frescoed dome, and the rest of what covers the temple is made of wood paneling.
