St. John of Ulúa Fort

24 reviews of St. John of Ulúa Fort

Major events and cultural walks

This fortress served as a shelter and protected the city from attacks by sea. It was later used to imprison the most dangerous offenders. The dangerous Jesus Arriaga was kept here. The legend has it that his alias was "Chucho" and that he robbed the rich to give to the poor. Currently it's used as the setting for major events and cultural walks.

A lot of History and Mistery...

Excellent

Created in 1519 to protect the cost from Pirates. Also use as penitentiary with all kind of stories about the tortures to the prisoners. Now, Archaeology Museum and great view of the Port of Veracruz and the all the city.!

A stairway to heaven

This used to be a prison, so prisoners must have dreamed of escaping to heaven from the hell they lived in.
