Finishing the fortification
From this bridge you can see some of the installation that regulates lake water and prevents Lucerne flooding. In 1408 the fort was completed at the end of the bridge that crosses the lake. Between 1626 and 1635 Kaspar Meglinger added 67 paintings depicting "The Dance of Death". The bridge is called Spreuer Bridge (or Straw Bridge) because the straw was thrown into the river.
