Spree River

El Spree es el principal río de Berlín. Su recorrido serpentea por el centro de la ciudad, enseñándonos los constantes contrastes que ofrece la capital alemana del siglo XXI. Uno de los paseos más bonitos que se pueden hacer, es precisamente, por la zona menos transitada por los turistas. Todo el mundo conoce el Spree del East Side Gallery (donde queda el extenso trozo de muro al este de la ciudad) o el Spree de la Isla de los Museos (Museumsinsel), pero pocos aprecian el Spree más occidental. El itinerario comenzaría en la parada de S Bahn Tiergarten. Ahí, en lugar de dirigirnos al conocido parque urbano, hemos de ir en dirección contraria, acceder por la solitaria calle Siegmundshof hasta llegar a un puente. Ese puente nos revela que ya estamos ante el Spree. Una vez allí solo hay que cruzarlo e incorporarse a la ribera, desde donde comenzaremos a caminar este inolvidable tramo. A lo largo del paseo conoceremos los rincones más bonitos del barrio de Moabit. Árboles de abundante follaje, escenas bucólicas y berlineses que salen a hacer ejercicio es lo que nos encontraremos a cada escasos metros. También hay barcos-restaurantes donde es posible parar para tomar un refrigerio. Mientras seguimos nuestra ruta veremos los típicos barcos fluviales que muestran Berlín a los turistas. Al continuar se vislumbrará la Siegessäuele (columna de la Victoria) y el Palacio de Bellvue, residencia del Presidente de la República Federal. Finalmente veremos el grandioso edificio de la Cancillería, sede principal de Gobierno y más tarde la Estación principal de Trenes (Hauptbahnhof). El recorrido por el Spree puede continuar pasando por Friedrichstrasse, la Isla de los Museos, etc. pero el tramo desde la parada de Tiergarten hasta la Hauptbahnhof es definitivamente, a mi juicio, el más especial. NOTA: Con algo de abrigo (dependiendo de la época del año) y buena compañía, recomiendo que hagan este recorrido justo antes de que caiga el sol. Los atardeceres con estos paisajes son verdaderamente preciosos.

Depende del ángulo que tomes podrás también disfrutar de un skyline de Berlín dominado por la Torre de la Televisión, el pirulí berlines. Otra opción es que te acerques al llegar la hora dorada al puente Elsenbrüke. Desde allí podrás disfrutar de la lucha en pause de dos gigantes que pelean sobre el agua. ¿O acaso intentan abrazarse? Discútelo con el sol. Espero que consigáis llegar a una conclusión antes de que se marche.

Y si queréis os dais el turístico viajecito en barco, con bar y amenización musical que vale un ojo de la cara, y si no queréis no, ya sabéis, como siempre.

También tienes la posibilidad de pasear en bici o a pie al lado del río, varias empresas alquilan bicicletas y las riberas están adaptadas con carril para cada uno, y la ciudad es muy plana entonces no es tanto ejercicio.

En la foto se ve el paseo que hay cerca del río Spree, es un lugar tranquilo y que también tiene su historia, pero es poco transitado. Para acabar solo queda decir que Berlin es una ciudad para disfrutarla, tanto de día, con sus museos, sus calles, su historia; como de noche, con sus bares, sus discotecas. Berlin es una ciudad cosmopolita, alternativa, vanguardista, ecléptica, moderna, es una ciudad que siempre te sorprenderá.
