The new South Beijing Railway Station is one of the largest in Asia, having opened in August 2008 for the Olympic games. Now it has become an important station connecting Beijing with the surrounding large cities by express train. For example, the intercity express between Beijing and Tianjin leaves from this station and travels at over 350km/hr.
