Sempre imponente, perentorio, direi...."statuario"...Si erge in Piazza Maggiore, a Bologna, il Nettuno, fontana-monumento emblema della città. L'opera fu commissionata dal Cardinale Legato di Bologna (Carlo Borromeo) e completata nel 1565; Il Nettuno (Dio del Mare), immortalato in una posizione molto naturale, è la statua più visitata di Bologna in quanto posizionata proprio nel centro storico della città. Questa, in base quadrata, ha in tutti i lati del Dio pagano 4 sirene dalle quali sgorga l'acqua che cavalcano altrettanti delfini. Ci sono anche 4 neonati che dai piedi di Nettuno spruzzano acqua nella fontana.
