The Big Market, where you can find naything
Souq el Kebir translates to the big market, and is at the center of the Medina, the town of Salé. Go to the central market square and the covered market where they sell food, and ask for Souq el Kebir. There is lots of entertainment starting at 10 in the morning. Not a place where they wake up early. But the stalls stay up late, 10 or 11 at night during Ramadan, where all the people go out for a walk after dinner and celebrate. In Souq el Kebir you can find anything, butchers, people making tagines with a wood oven, and various household objects. If you want to buy DVDs and CDs, there are all the latest movies and music hits, and they cost less than 1 euro.
