Snæfells Glacier
We went to Ólafsvík and were told not to take any excursions to Snæfellsjökull Snæfells Glacier, which is located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula (west of Iceland). This glacier is where the story of "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne, was set. The only way to see the glacier is to cross the peninsula from north to south along the mountain track that leads to Arnarstapi Ólafsvík 570. This is the route that is the closest to the glacier and the experience is quite impressive.
