Sloane Street is one of the main streets of London in the Royal Borough of Kensington and the famous Chelsea and it takes its name from Sir Hans Sloane, who purchased the surrounding land in 1712. Many of the properties still belong to his descendants, the Earls Cadogan and it has long been a street of fashion and luxury shops, especially the northern part closest to Knightsbridge, which is known colloquially among Londoners as High Sloane Street. Since the 90's commercial activity and business development has grown along with the area's exclusivity so it currently competes with the well known exclusive Bond Street, which has been the most exclusive street for London trade for two centuries.
