A lifeline of the city
The history of La Ciotat is so closely intertwined with the history of the shipyards ... here, you can see the cranes and equipment that helped the city to grow. Built in the first half of the nineteenth century, during the industrial revolution, the shipyards were active until 1982, employing most of the local population. Long abandoned, the site has been renovated over the last ten years, and is now home to modern shipyards dealing with the maintenance and renovation of luxury yachts.
