High-level Japanese cuisine at the Retiro.
Shikku is a Japanese restaurant that opened at the end of last year with very high gastronomic pretense. I must say, it’s never disappointed me.
The restaurant is both modern and elegant at the same time. It has a very original decoration that is also warm and inviting. I believe the lighting was more subdued and romantic the first time I dined there, but oh well, it continues to be a place that you can dine as a couple and make a good impression.
Added to the decoration is the GREAT Japanese food. Their chef, Rafael Sánchez, who cooked at the mythical Suntory, has some very interesting offerings on his menu.
The oyster shot (with salmon eggs and quail eggs) is highly recommended. It is truly one of the most surprising dishes I have ever tasted. The other star plate is the Black Cod (black Alaskan cod marinated in its own juices). It’s marvelous in both flavor and texture.
