Food products
Sha Zhou seems to be the ancient name of the city, which was also adopted by the market. It's a classic Chinese market, about which I've already wrote many reviews (I've seen them all! They're one of my favourite stops in any city), typical of the cities of western China. There were many things, especially different food products, which were brought in from remote areas of the city by small traders. But there's also clothing, footwear, textiles, furniture, etc. Plus, as in most markets, there are food stalls. In this case, there was a variety of cuisines from throughout the country. Here, if you head west along the Silk Road, Muslim cuisine starts to appear, which is quite different from Chinese, because of the influence of the nearby Uighur people the live in the Xinjiang province.
