Small charming coastal town
Sausset is a small charming coastal town. It is on the Mediterranean, near Marseille. From Marseille, it takes about 45 minutes to get there. What I like about this town, is that it's not only a beach town, but it has a nice Provincial market where you can buy olive oils, honey and other typical products of the region. There is a nice boardwalk that you can travel on foot or by bike. The beaches are very clean, but they fill-up quickly between June and September. At the start of the season there are only people from Marseille, on weekend trips, but once the school year ends, it is always full, and parking is expensive.
The path that runs along the coast is the historic path used by customs officers to guard the coast. There are many very nice trails for all types of hikers. Roads near Sausset are very famous in France because they have been used as backdrops for many famous movies, such as Taxi, or Welcome to the North.
