Saschiz Fortress

Saschiz is a town located about 20 kilometers from the city of Sighisoara,in the Mures
region. The fortress is at the top of a hill overlooking what is now the modern town. You can go up on foot or use you car from the town center,walking takes about 20. The ruins are of a once a defensive fortress, this protected the city against invasions, in a region where these were numerous. The people who populated the Mures region were Saxons, who came from Germany. At this time, the land belonged to the King of Hungary, who gave it to the Saxons in order to have a presence there and to protect the size of his country.
