Sargans village is in the eastern part of Switzerland, in Canton St Gallen almost hitting Austria. Local citizens are proud of the sunny slopes of vineyards, its narrow streets and Romanesque style - especially Sargans Castle. The village has over 5,000 inhabitants that speak Swiss German, it's an hour by car, 92 km, to Zürich, via a modern highway with little traffic.
