Santuario della Vergine del Castello

La città di Cullera occupa una posizione strategica nel centro della comunità Valenciana, bagnata dalle acque del Mar Mediterraneo nel golfo di Valencia, attraversata dal Rio Júcar, si estende verso l’interno sino alle montagne les Raboses. Alle spalle della città, sulla sua montagna omonima, spicca un santuario, e così ci incamminiamo per andarlo a vedere. Saliamo la ripida salita percorrendo una strada lungo la quale si sviluppa il Calvario, e quando arriviamo in cima, scopriamo che dalla parte opposta ci si arriva ugualmente, ma con molta meno fatica, in macchina o addirittura con un ascensore; ci consoliamo con l’idea di aver fatto un sano moto sportivo. Dal santuario si può ammirare un panorama davvero notevole, 360 gradi di vista incantevole su tutta la zona. Il santuario è dedicato alla Vergine del Castello, chiesa che si presenta in stile neo-bizantino. L’edificio religioso è stato costruito tra il 1891 e il 1897 per venerare Nostra Signora dell’Incarnazione, nonché patrono della città di Cullera. Durante i festeggiamenti che si svolgono nel periodo Pasquale detti “Baixa de la Mar de Déu del Castell”, la statua viene portata nella parrocchia in basso al centro della città, per stare più vicino ai suoi fedeli. Subito dopo l’ingresso principale alla sinistra troviamo un negozietto di souvenir e ricordi, tutti rigorosamente legati alla Vergine. Alla destra del vestibolo possiamo notare mattonelle di ceramica valenciana dipinti, che raccontano alcuni miracoli attribuiti alla Vergine. L’interno della cappella è molto decorato con un altare riccamente abbellito con dipinti e statue. Alla destra dell’altare troviamo la cappella dove è posta su un trono l’immagine della Vergine, del XV secolo, in stile gotico. In fondo alla chiesa è stato realizzato un enorme presepio, interessante, con molti personaggi in movimento.
