Santo Ecce Homo
As a child, in my frequent trips to Villa de Leyva, I went to the Monastery of Santo Ecce Homo. It is in the outskirts, in Sutamarchán. The monastery was founded by the Dominicans in 1620. Since 1958 it has been the Museum of Colonial Art, featuring murals of the 17th and 18th centuries, religious pieces and choral books, among others. Open from Tuesday to Sunday and holidays from 8:30 to 16:30. Currently it also serves as a retreat house.
